Exhibition Muistoja – Memories brings together works with the theme Memories by three artist-researchers Katri Konttinen, Amna Qureshi and Heidi Pietarinen, working in the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland. Memories shape us and in memories we can return again to meaningful moments of life; for example, the sense of material or scent can bring us back to a forgotten memory.
We have different ways to collect and save memories. Nostalgic memories are impactful memories that may leave an impression on an individual. They can be a collection of feelings relating to family, close friends, romantic partners, or even sensations associated with those experiences. It is also common for these memories to carry complex emotions associated with happiness or loss, but they tend to be overwhelmingly positive and usually include expressions of gratitude as well.
