Abstrakti
Indigenous feminism, a critical branch of feminist theory and activism, centers on experiences, struggles, and contributions of Indigenous women within the broader context of feminism. Indigenous feminists strive to dismantle systems of oppression and advocate for the sovereignty, rights, and empowerment of Indigenous women. This entry discusses the core tenets of Indigenous feminism as well as its origins. In addition, Indigenous conceptions of gender are discussed in relation to Indigenous feminist practices. Contemporary concerns for Indigenous feminist scholars and activists are addressed.
