Hotel Anthropocene

During the fictional day at the Hotel Anthropocene, Gren and Höckert invite the readers to critically reflect on tourism and planetary ethics with the hotel guests who exhibit different ways of knowing, feeling and sensing ecological crises. The story of the hotel disrupts the idea of hedonistic touristic bubbles by drawing attention to human entanglements with our common planetary state. Moreover, the chapter raises questions about our responsibilities as researchers and teachers when using fiction as method for producing and sharing knowledge about our current and future planetary situation in the Anthropocene. What kinds of storytelling and listening should we engage in order to tune us in to more caring forms of co-existence at our one and only common “hotel”?
