Abstrakti

After the end of the Cold war there have been several significant changes in Arctic geopolitics and security. There have also happened in the Barents Region, as well as created a new situiation much emphasizing cooperation across national borders and region-building. Actually the establishment of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region is both a result of this, and has even become a metaphore for an institutional region-building in Europe and the Arctic. The recnt significant change in the Barents Region is due to globalization and its flows, such as long-range pollution, climate change, and mass-scale exploitation of resources.
