abstract = "The chapter examines how social changes and histories of the S{\'a}mi can be communicated through the S{\'a}mi dress, g{\'a}kti. By applying the concept of double perspective, the chapter suggests that the traditional S{\'a}mi dress refers to Indigenous People{\textquoteright}s experiences of the coexistence of two overlapping realities, the S{\'a}mi and the Western. The meanings of the S{\'a}mis{\textquoteright} own worldview, social norms and values, as well as the majority{\textquoteright}s political and economic impacts, are interwoven in the traditional S{\'a}mi dress. This makes g{\'a}kti an indicator of very intricate system of S{\'a}mi society. It carries a traditional knowledge that is based on a very old and essential core of the S{\'a}mi worldview, but at the same time, the g{\'a}kti reflects different historical processes, ideologies and economic realities. All these realities are hidden in the design, decorations and the meanings of g{\'a}kti.",
