title = "Arctic Ocean",
abstract = "With a size of 15.6 million square kilometres, the Arctic Ocean is surrounded by the landmasses of the five Arctic coastal States. However, the geographical scope of the Central Arctic Ocean area is not officially agreed upon. Legally, the Arctic Ocean can be divided into two distinct categories of maritime zones. One portion is under the control of the five Arctic coastal States, encompassing their territorial seas, their exclusive economic zones, and their continental shelf areas. The Central Arctic Ocean includes high seas areas that lie outside the jurisdiction of any State as well as small sections of the international seabed and subsoil.",
