Parliamentary elections were held in the spring of 2023 and a new government was appointed in June, which affected the legislative drafting work. As of the beginning of 2023, the new welfare service counties started operating. In connection with their operation, new legislation was also enacted regarding, for example, client data in healthcare and social welfare. In general, issues related to publicity legislation and its application have been problematic. The Supreme Administrative Court published several yearbook decisions on the unreasonableness of the granting of an extended residence permit. Amendments to the Act on the Sámi Parliament are still pending.
