The project will contribute to a better understanding of the contextual and cultural issues in education via engagement with local communities through institutional and research collaboration. It will focus on knowledge exchange and collaboration development around inclusive and effective teaching practices. As t he year 2019 is being celebrated as a UN International Year of Indigenous Languages, the project will concentrate its activities to the theme of indigenous languages and education.

The long-term goal of the project is to develop teacher education to give teachers the skills to take advantage of digitalization in teaching and learning, promote and support local cultures and use inclusive pedagogies in their everyday work.

The project aims to develop educational practices that enable individual learning, respect local communities, and promote integrated learning approaches. The project broadly aims at promoting social justice and inclusion by acknowledging that a consistent and qualified teacher workforce integrated into the community is critical to the learning of students, the sustainability of schools and the vitality of communities. This project will explore specific issues related to teacher education within the Arctic region. It aims to contribute to a better understanding of the contextual and cultural issues in education in the Arctic via engagement with local communities and especially with indigenous communities through institutional and research collaborations.
