Dr. Begum's research background lies in the disciplines of law and the social sciences, spanning Arctic Studies, human rights, older immigrants and immigrants caregivers, ageing and ethnicity in the North, and gender studies. Her recent research interest includes the concept of an age-friendly environment in the light of intersectionality and capability theory and as the concept might apply to and thus enhance the situation of older non-European immigrants.
