Iiris Tuominen is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Law. Her research interests include legal theory and legal philosophy but also more practical issues such as research ethics. Her PhD dissertation is a study of the legal practices and power relations through which individuals are constituted as subjects. More specifically, how people belonging to sexual minorities are subjectified through the legal proceedings of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. She has also worked in the project Digital Access to Sámi Heritage Archives where she developed ethical guidelines for the use of Sámi archive materials. Currently, in addition to her dissertation, she is working with the themes of cultural heritage, intellectual property rights and indigenous rights and ethics.
