As we urgently seek to transform our food system to ensure better individual and planetary health, sustainability in all its dimensions is critical in reaching this goal. A better understanding on how traditional and indigenous knowledge can contribute to biodiversity and sustainability is worth investigating. In this presentation, an overview of how this applies to the circumpolar region, in particular the Arctic-Barents region will be highlighted. The impacts of climate change on food security and its relevance in the region with global consequences will also be emphasized. Ultimately, it is hoped that this presentation will generate further discussion from a multidisciplinary perspective that can inform national strategies on achieving sustainable development goals.
