The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Riigikogu (Estonian parliament) continued discussions on Asia, focusing on the promotion of the interests of Estonian entrepreneurs and the training of specialists to increase knowledge of the region. The development of educational and research programs on Asia was discussed in a joint meeting with the Committee on Culture. The importance of Asia in both the world economy and politics and the need to train Asian experts in Estonia were emphasised. The Commission organised seminar 'Development of the Southeast Asian Region: Estonian Choices'. The rapporteurs emphasised the growing role and need of the region in the global economy as well as making yourself visible there.
