Abstract

Drawing upon visual ethnographic research carried out between 2016 to 2019 in Madrid, Valencia, and Athens, this photographic exhibition presents images that emerge by chance from layers, ruptures, wash offs and weather conditions.

These ephemeral illustrations are most often passed by without precise observation. SUR(FACES) is an ongoing photo series that seeks to document historical layers of the city walls. Photography is used to pause the time and to record the change in this ongoing process, and to show the moment before the next transformation.
