Abstract

My PhD research is about coupling of digital information to the textile materials. I have MA in clothing design and I'm doing my doctoral thesis under supervision of professor Jonna Häkkilä. My PhD is conducted to Industrial Design and I have applied for Culture-Based Service Design Doctoral Program. My interest in digital contents in soft material has emerged from my working history. I have worked in clothing industry as a Designer and after that as a University Teacher in Design Technology. I was in the project where I designed the winter clothing with the wearable devices. My last project was an exploration on the coupling of Internet of Things to textile materials. It was a soft Tangible User Interface for detecting peoples presence with Bluetooth technology via Internet. The problems that drive my research are linked to the benefits on the coupling of digital information to the textile materials.
