Abstract
The Excavator's Stone is a performance by artists Tommi Yläjoki and Maria Huhmarniemi, examining the relationship between humans and nature in the era of ecological crises and overconsumption. In the performance, a man grapples with himself and a stone. He is unsure about what to do with the stone: should he care for it or demonstrate his own strength to it. The performance is accompanied by Huhmarniemi's monologue, discussing the risks of a mining project and repeating itself.
