Abstract

The Case study was carried out in a real-life context. It derived from the interest to find information about public art works located around Rovaniemi
city centre. The case aimed on finding out if the voice recognition system SIRI
could be used in finding public art in Rovaniemi city centre and nearby
surroundings.
An online service Art Locator, where all the public artworks are mapped in
Rovaniemi, exists. Though the service exists, it is not easily achievable
unless one knows about the service, the exact name of it and how to find it.
The research question was; Can voice control be used in order to find public
art in arctic conditions? In this case SIRI was used in two Iphones with two
languages (Finnish and English).
