Abstract

Reflects on issues raised by the European Commission's February 2020 White Paper "On Artificial Intelligence - A European Approach to Excellence and Trust". Discusses the factors identified as necessary for developing citizens' trust in artificial intelligence (AI), including uniform governance structures, the key requirements for its legitimate use, and the different regulatory structures envisaged for high risk and "no high risk" AI.
