Abstract
On 17 September 2024, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission re-elected for another 5 years, issued her Mission letter to Kaja Kallas, the EU’s newly appointed High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the European Commission’s Vice-President. The document represents a fine example of an epistolary ‘monologue’, presuming that, having received and read the letter, Kallas would not perform any writing back to her boss.
