Abstract

In our minds, we often combine ice with glass. The substances are both transparent and hard, but at the same time easy to break. Therefore, the connection between the arctic + glass is quite natural. Johansson believes “glass is an excellent material to express and take a stand on meaningful topics”. Her goal is to use design and art to express and influence the current, important topics related specifically to the arctic regions.

It is important to maintain and develop arctic glass design in terms of the vitality of the northern glass design culture. Arctic glass design is a fascinating subject with special features. Glass design and culture is relevant specifically now, since it is the “2022 year of glass” defined by the UN.
