Project Details

Description

The project focuses on the uses of cold as a valuable symbolic and economic resource as well as on the processes of perceiving and re-evaluating cold environments in the Arctic communities. Research questions include three main themes: 1. Cold ‘extremity’ as manifested nowadays in the local context and contributor to the community sustainability at large; 2. Cold new attributed quality in the context of environmental changes, the interrelation between changing geophysical environment and the need to adapt to changes in tourism-, construction-, and transportation sectors. 3. Social and symbolic properties of cold and entanglement with coldscapes.
