Project Details
Description
The objectives of the pilot project for doctoral education are to increase the number of doctoral graduates in Finland, taking into account the security of expertise. The pilot aims to test a more flexible process and content for doctoral education. It also seeks to enhance the mobility of doctoral candidates between universities, companies, research institutes, and other organizations, while encouraging newly graduated doctors to pursue diverse research careers. The pilot will generate information about the processes of doctoral education and explore the potential need for regulation regarding the duration of third-cycle degrees. Additionally, it aims to develop supervision practices and improve the integration of scientific and artistic postgraduate studies with prior education, such as the possibility of completing a master's degree during doctoral research. A key goal is also to increase the employment of doctoral graduates across various sectors of society.
