Integrating socio-economic and climate models

Project Details

Description

Incorporation of human factors into the BNU-ESM climate model. Evaluation of certain impacts on economic systems such as flooding of cities (in China), and urban health.

Key findings

It is very difficult to make useful forecasts incorporating humans because of unknown unknowns. E.G estimating the impact of new technology is virtually impossible. Despite this it is possible to make simple estimates based on present rates of development and hence derive costs in future of key impacts.
