Research interests

Vesa Markuksela is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lapland in Finland.  He obtained a Ph.D. (Management) with Honors from a thesis titled “Sense like a fish – an ethnography of troll fishing brotherhoods competition practice.” He is a sensory scholar at the interface of organization, marketing, and tourism studies. His research engages posthuman philosophical, theoretical, and methodological approaches to examine more-than-human encounters in a nature-based leisure context, especially in the waterscapes. Recently, he embarked on a grounded framework to study the entanglements of MTB riding and trail building. His long-term interest is to uncover novel paths toward multispecies connectedness, capturing the nuances of more-than-human sensorial modes of communication.
