Research interests

Sandra Wallenius-Korkalo (Doctor of Social Sciences) is a university lecturer in Political Sciences at the University of Lapland. She is currently a collaborative investigator at the AECED project (Transforming Education for Democracy through Aesthetic and Embodied Learning, Responsive Pedagogies and Democracy-as-becoming, Horizon Europe, 2023–2026).

Her research interests relate to body politics, feminist and new materialist thought, arts, and (post)qualitative methodologies. She has enquired into gendered and cultural politics of religion, social change and politics of memory, as well as politics of human milk. She has also explored embodied academic writing practises and dance. She has also been enquiring into the politics of human milk. In the AECED project, she engages with radical democratic thinking and democracy-as becoming in terms of assemblages in movement. She is keen on both researching and fostering transformative pedagogical practices in higher education.
