Research interests

Jonna Tolonen is an artist researcher who combines aesthetic, ethnographical and action research practices through an inquiry into embodiments and environments. She studied graphic design and photography in Canberra, education and fine arts in Oulu and received a PhD in Art and Design at the University of Lapland. She has been a visiting researcher in different universities and educational centers such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Finnish Institute of Athens and has participated in long-term artistic research projects such as Floating Peripheries and Artivism on Edges.
