Heidi Pietarinen is Professor of Textiles at the Faculty of Art and Design, University of Lapland, Finland. She holds a PhD in textiles, and her research focuses on the knowledge traditions and methods of textile art, textile history, material studies, and arts-based research. Her scholarly work includes research projects, peer‑reviewed publications, and active participation in multidisciplinary research groups, such as the BioARTech Laboratory, High‑Altitude Bioprospecting, and the Early Modern Period (Uuden ajan alku) research group within the field of history.
