Personal profile

Research interests

In my research, I am interested in the plurality of sustainabilities in the Arctic and the power relationships between them. I approach the topic with decolonial theories and methodologies and my aim is to understand how different sustainabilities could support each other, instead of conflifting. In my dissertation, I research the topic through seal hunt in Greenland and in the Gulf of Bothia.

I have Master of Arts degrees in Industrial Design (University of Lapland) and Creative Sustainability (Aalto University). In addition, I have studied Indigenous ways of knowing with the University of Helsinki's Indigenous Studies research group, and reformed my relationship with materials and the process of making at University of Alaska Fairbanks's Native Arts classes. I consider sustainability as a sociomaterial entity and therefore, making and participation are embedded in my methodological interests.
