Erdogan Sima is a Ph.D. researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lapland. He holds a Master of Research in International Relations and Politics from Lancaster University (2004). His research is attuned to societal responses to epistemic dislocations, commonly known as catastrophic events that transgress the politically established boundaries. The focus of his research is on the narratives of survival, as emergent configurations of human agency that challenge both the neoliberal and the territorial conception of security. His research has been published in journals such as New Political Science, Northern Lights: Film & Media Studies Yearbook, and Distinktion: Journal of Social Theory. He is currently completing a dissertation titled ‘“Placeless” defense: The normative turn in military technology’.
