Dhanay's current research interest focus on the intersection between IPRs and sustainability, thus looking into different governance models, and forms of collaboration, in particular, multi-stakeholder partnerships. Her interest on multi-stake holder collaboration emerged as a result of many years of research in topics related to access to medicines, innovation, regulation and IPRs. In her writings, Dhanay has reflected on the role of interpretation when implementing exceptions to patents. This lead her interest in finding alternative soft-law approaches to foster collaboration and achieve SDG. Dhanay has writen extensively on these topics from a comparative law perspective. She has vast teaching experience at all levels in higher education at a national and intenational level.
