Research interests

Alf Josefsen is responsible for generating a research portfolio, preparing roadmaps, managing and coordinating joint funding opportunities, and project development with funding organizations and networks, relevant ministries, and the European Commission, taking an active role in academic collaborations developing strategic partnerships from a research perspective.

He has participated in the marine and offshore industry within cutting-edge design and construction. He has investigated marine structures, hydrodynamics, and public procurement and contract management at the EU level. His public procurement research has proposed advanced triangulation strategies and risk anticipation methods to optimize the system and reduce corruption.

Josefsen's research at the University of Lapland supports developing new capabilities for the future version of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure within public procurement and its contractual area, implementing transparency, sustainability, security, interoperability, and robustness. The research aims to go beyond what current blockchain solutions can offer by developing smart contracts and other relevant functions to provide market-based solutions.
