Description

The plight of the old trees on the Sairaalanniemi peninsual, Rovaniemi, has become a regional debate as a response to plans to build apartment complexes in the area which would mean the felling on old trees that survived the war years in Lapland. Francis Joy and John Charles Ryan offer commentary on this issue in terms of the uniqueness of the trees and their stored memory on and around the peninsula as a potential site for research.
