Many of us would have childhood memories of visiting the big banana, big pineapple or myriad other big attractions that dot the Australian landscape.

But what do they say about our post-colonial history and our connection to the land?

Johan Edelheim and Stephen Stockwell are two academics who have spent some time analysing our relationship to big things. They join Sian Prior and author Lisa Walker, who took her 14 year old son on a pilgrimage around the big attractions of northern NSW and Queensland while researching her latest book.
