Revitalisation of craft heritage for sustainable development of SME in the Arctic

Activity: PresentationConference presentation

Description

This presentation introduces the WoolInno project, which supports business continuity and the development of new products and services in Finland's Lapland province. The project synergizes crafts and design expertise to foster new services and products that not only emerge from tradition but also strengthen the regional identity of Lapland. It aims to promote cultural, social, economic and ecological sustainability while continuing and renewing cultural traditions. Targeting small and medium-sized enterprises in Lapland, the project focuses on those in the crafts, design, sheep farming, and tourism sectors. Additionally, it involves teachers and students from the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland. Indirectly, the project also impacts locals and tourists in Lapland as well as entrepreneurs across Finland. The WoolInno project, running from 2023 to 2026, is spearheaded by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lapland. It collaborates with various craft, design, and tourism companies in Lapland and is co-funded by the European Union.
